The Sound of Music

When the leaves of a tree hang still they are silent, but when the wind ruffles them they move and sound is produced. The link between vibration and sound remains a constant element of music, and children who have learned to understand movement have the foundation for an understanding of music. The combination of music and movement is natural to children. Music can be an incentive to dance. It can evoke a mood, conjure an image, or suggest a way of moving. The whole purpose of music is to give pleasure. The child’s natural love of it shows that he delights in it, and this love should never be dissipated or controlled.
